Abstract
This collection documents Dr. Jeremiah M. Gelles efforts as an individual and as a member of various protest groups to draw attention to the questionable morality of Dr. Saul Krugman’s hepatitis experiments at the Willowbrook State School.
Arrangement
The materials in this collection are arranged series. Series 1, Correspondence, Literary Productions, includes materials Gelles was active in writing or editing that present his views on Krugman. The correspondence file includes some incoming letters that respond to Gelles’ observations. Series 2, Protest Materials, contains flyers presenting objections to Krugman’s conduct. Series 3, Krugman’s Hepatitis Research, constitutes a collection of materials, mostly articles published in medical journals, that present Krugman’s research. Series 4, Newsclippings, includes newspaper articles about Krugman, Willowbrook, and Krugman’s hepatitis vaccine.
