Scope and Contents
The Stapleton Community Local Development Corporation Records contain material documenting the creation of the Corporation as well as the group’s activities. The collection consists of two folders. Folder 1, Founding Documents, contains the constitution, by-laws and other establishing documents for the corporation. Folder 2, Newsletters, contains newsletters published by the Stapleton Community LDC between 1985 and 1995. Newsletters include: notices for upcoming meetings, help wanted advertisements, community events, and short news items.

Biographical / Historical
The Stapleton Community Local Development Corporation was founded in 1979 in order to improve the socio-economic conditions of the Stapleton neighborhood in Staten Island, New York. This community organization was involved in the preservation of historic homes, the promotion of continuing education, and the support of local businesses.
