Biographical / Historical

As a founding member of the Mud Lane Society, a friend of State Senator John Marchi, and a volunteer for Project Hospitality, Mac O’Callaghan dedicated herself to Staten Island. The Mud Lane Society was founded in 1976 in order to inspire interest in the community of Stapleton on Staten Island. The society was particularly interested in maintaining the architectural integrity of the area, and organized yearly house tours of historic mansions. In the 1990s, they became involved in the debate over the construction of a speedway in the neighborhood.
